Uba Sani: Fulfilling Promises, The SUSTAIN Agenda And The Road To 2027

When Senator Uba Sani stood before Kaduna in 2022 to ask for its mandate, he did not offer slogans. He offered a covenant. Three years into his administration, that covenant is no longer on paper. It is on the roads, in the farms, in the hospitals, and in the peace that has returned to a state once described as a killing field.

1. The Covenant He Made in 2022

On the campaign trail, Uba Sani unveiled a clear, seven-point manifesto that would become the compass of his government. It was tagged SUSTAIN.

It was not a vague promise of continuity. It was a promise to sustain what works and to fix what divides, spanning the entire spectrum of security and human development. He promised to match promises with deeds, and to nurture citizens engagement as a pillar of governance. eba477ff

2. The Pilot And His Crew

A good pilot is only as good as his cockpit crew. Governor Uba Sani understood this early and composed an Executive Council not of loyalists alone, but of professionals, technocrats, and representatives of all three senatorial zones.

The Executive Council exists to advise and direct the Governor, giving commissioners authority to execute power over their fields. Uba Sani swore in 14 commissioners and assigned portfolios based on competence, from Education to Finance to Internal Security and Home Affairs. He deliberately drew from Zone One, Zone Two and Zone Three, and from the Organized Private Sector, ensuring that Southern Kaduna, Central and Northern Kaduna all have a seat at the table. 4627add4

That is why governance in Kaduna today feels balanced. It is not a one-man show. It is a pilot leading a tested crew.

3. Three Years Of Evidence: Achievements That Speak

In less than three years, the SUSTAIN Agenda has left landmarks that even critics cannot ignore.

Agriculture: Prosperity to the Polling Unit. For the third consecutive year, Uba Sani flagged off the distribution of 500 trucks of free fertilizers and tractors to 150,000 smallholder farmers across the 23 local governments. Last August alone, 400 trucks went to 100,000 farmers, each receiving two bags free. In total, his administration has delivered over 900 trucks of fertilizer support, described as one of the most extensive fertilizer support programmes undertaken by any subnational government in Nigeria. And crucially, distribution did not stop at local government headquarters. It went down to polling units across the 255 wards, so that the real farmer, not the political farmer, benefits. 5872

Health: One Ward, One Functional PHC. He upgraded 255 Primary Healthcare Centres to Level 2 status, representing one PHC in all the wards of Kaduna State. He completed and commissioned the abandoned 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, now fully operational, plus renovation of 15 General Hospitals. 8a7c

Human Capital and Economy: Over N100bn committed to agriculture and food security, 65+ schools built and rehabilitated, pioneering a Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone, partnering with Afreximbank for an export quality center, and boosting agricultural funding to 11%. a4ad

This is governance that touches the grassroots.

4. From Killing Field To Field Of Prosperity: The Difference Between Uba Sani And El-Rufai

Kaduna State was likened to a killing field during the era of his predecessor. The approach then was kinetic, divisive, and often confrontational. 82714bba

Uba Sani chose a different path. His administration emphasized a non-kinetic strategy, focusing on dialogue, community engagement, and rehabilitation. He made it clear that peace would be the cornerstone of his administration, arguing that no meaningful development could take place in an atmosphere of fear and division. 4cee9e10

The result is visible. President Bola Tinubu himself testified recently that Kaduna, once unsafe, is now peaceful enough that you can move to Birnin Gwari at midnight without fear of attack. Where there were mass burials, there are now mass distributions of fertilizer. Where there were curfews, there are now construction sites. Kaduna is no longer a killing field. 5. Roads Without Borders: 140 Roads Across Every Local Government

No community is left behind. That is not a slogan. It is a construction plan.

Governor Uba Sani is constructing 140 roads in all the 23 local governments in Kaduna State, totalling 1,335 kilometres across all the three senatorial districts. He pointed out that all the roads were conceived and initiated by his government, while also completing inherited projects. 0c9a850e

From Kauru Road abandoned for 45 years, to the 35km Gadar Gayan to Gwaraji and Maraban Kujama link, to 11 new roads flagged off in Zaria and Sabon Gari, the infrastructure renewal is deliberate. KADRA confirms several have been completed while others are progressing steadily, with majority strategically located in rural areas to boost the rural economy. 6. Aligned With The Centre: What Kaduna Got From President Tinubu

A governor who fights the centre starves his state. Uba Sani aligned Kaduna with the centre and the dividends are historic.

He has publicly credited President Bola Tinubu for providing the support that has enabled the execution of major road projects and other infrastructure across the state. Recently, the Federal Executive Council approved strategic infrastructure contracts worth over N1 trillion and N178 billion aimed at transforming Kaduna. 806e7a2f

With Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, a daughter of Southern Kaduna and a woman who understands the pains and hopes of that zone, and with Christians heading key ministries like Internal Security and Home Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, and Information, he has restored balance in practice, not just on paper. The future of a balanced Kaduna is therefore secure: a Kaduna where faith is not a weapon, where Southern Kaduna Christian communities are not just heard but empowered, and where the deputy governorship symbolizes inclusion, bridging the North and South, Muslim and Christian, for lasting peace.

Uba Sani has shown that balance is not about tokenism. It is about justice, representation, and shared prosperity.

8. 2027: Not A Contest, But A Confirmation

2023 was contentious, narrow, and divisive. 2027 will be different.

In 2023, Uba Sani won on a promise. In 2027, he will win on proof. The farmer in Soba who got free fertilizer for three years will not need a billboard to remember. The mother in Kaura who now has a functional PHC in her ward will not need a jingle. The commuter in Zaria who drives on a new road, the youth in Rigachikun trained in vocational skills, the trader who will board the Kaduna Light Rail, they all know.

Kaduna has moved from insecurity to inclusion, from demolition to development, from a killing field to a prosperity field.

The SUSTAIN Agenda was the promise. Fulfilment is the record. And 2027 will be far better than 2023, not because the contest will be easy, but because the verdict of the people will be overwhelming.
