Consensus Strategy Will Strengthen APC and Reduce Political Tension in Southern Kaduna – Victor Mathew Bobai

A political stakeholder and public affairs commentator, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Uba Sani enjoying broad political consensus within the ruling party should serve as a model for other elective positions across Southern Kaduna.

Victor Mathew Bobai stated that if the leadership of the All Progressives Congress has successfully rallied around President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani through consensus and collective support, then stakeholders in Southern Kaduna should deliberately adopt the same approach when selecting candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Assembly seats.

According to him, the task ahead of major political actors in the region is to create a strategic political desk where discussions and consultations can take place among party elders, community leaders, youth groups, and other key stakeholders to determine the most acceptable candidates.

Bobai explained that adopting consensus would significantly reduce unnecessary financial spending associated with intense party primaries, which often place heavy financial burdens on aspirants and supporters.

He further emphasized that beyond saving resources, consensus would help build trust, unity, and stronger coordination within the party structure, ensuring that all candidates who emerge under the APC banner enjoy the collective backing of the region.

“Where leaders sit together and agree on credible candidates, it reduces bitterness and internal conflicts. What Southern Kaduna needs now is a deliberate conversation among stakeholders so that the party can present candidates that everyone can rally behind,” Bobai said.

He added that such an approach would also allow the APC to focus more on strengthening grassroots mobilization and winning elections, rather than managing post-primary disputes.

Political observers believe that if properly coordinated, the consensus strategy could help Southern Kaduna present strong, united candidates who can effectively compete and consolidate the influence of the APC across the region.

Bobai concluded that the responsibility now lies with major stakeholders and party leaders across Southern Kaduna to place the collective interest of the region above individual ambitions, noting that unity and strategic planning remain critical for the party’s success in future elections.
