DEFENCE MINISTER FLAGS OFF SENIOR EXECUTIVE CAREER TRANSITION PROGRAMME FOR ARMED FORCES

The Honourable Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has officially flagged off the Senior Executive Career Transition Programme (SECTP), an initiative of the Nigerian Army implemented by the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre.

The programme, which runs from March 22 to April 4, 2026, is designed to equip senior officers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria with the knowledge and skills required for a seamless transition into civilian life after active service. The residential course features modules on retirement planning, financial management, career reinvention, and the psychological aspects of post-service adjustment.

In addition, participants will benefit from corporate immersion engagements, venture support initiatives, and mentorship sessions led by accomplished retired senior officers, aimed at preparing them for continued relevance beyond military service.

Speaking at the event, General Musa described the initiative as a critical component of the Ministry’s commitment to personnel welfare and human capital development. He emphasized that military leadership must go beyond active service to ensuring that officers are well-prepared for life after retirement.

According to him, SECTP represents a proactive and institutionalised approach to preserving the dignity, stability, and well-being of senior officers, while also strengthening inter-service synergy within the Armed Forces.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies and programmes that honour the sacrifices of military personnel and enhance the overall effectiveness of Nigeria’s defence institutions.
