The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Kaduna State Chapter, Hon. Dr. Victor Bobai, has condemned the recent antagonistic campaign against the Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, describing it as a coordinated propaganda effort driven by surrogates and merchants of war who benefit from insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking during a chat with journalists in Kaduna, Hon. Bobai dismissed the calls by a group claiming to represent “Arewa Youths” demanding the removal of the Defence Minister, stressing that such comments do not represent the collective voice of the Arewa people or responsible northern stakeholders.

He stated that the attempt to weaponize the Arewa platform to spread division and misinformation is dangerous and unacceptable, emphasizing that the Defence Minister’s role under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is strategic, involving policy coordination, strengthening military operations, and supporting the Armed Forces in confronting terrorism and banditry across the country.

Hon. Bobai noted that Nigeria’s security challenges are deep-rooted and long-standing, adding that reducing complex national security responsibilities to emotional rhetoric and social media propaganda is both misleading and irresponsible.

He further stressed that President Tinubu is an experienced leader who understands the dynamics of governance and national security, and therefore cannot be misled by exaggerated narratives or politically motivated campaigns designed to undermine dedicated public servants working to stabilize the country.

Bobai’s Concluding Analysis and Solutions
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Dr. Victor Bobai acknowledged that the North is indeed facing a serious and worsening security situation, a concern that has also been consistently raised by leaders within the Arewa Consultative Forum.

He explained that the reality of insecurity must be confronted with honesty, unity, and strategic action rather than political scapegoating.

According to Bobai:
Worsening Situation: Northern communities continue to face grave security threats despite ongoing government interventions, and the situation demands stronger coordination and sustained commitment from all levels of leadership.

Call for Action and Accountability: While supporting the ongoing national security strategy, he emphasized that government institutions must remain accountable and continuously improve operational effectiveness in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

Avoiding Premature Political Distractions: Bobai referenced the caution earlier expressed by ACF Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, who warned that political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections must not overshadow urgent security and economic challenges confronting Nigerians today.

Impact on Society: The ongoing violence has displaced thousands of families, destroyed livelihoods, and disrupted education, creating deep humanitarian and economic consequences for affected communities.

Call for Unity and Strategic Action: He called for a united front among government, traditional leaders, civil society, and security institutions, stressing that the fight against criminality must be collective.

He also emphasized the need for security agencies to adopt stronger operational strategies rather than allowing criminal groups to exploit negotiations as a survival tactic.
Bobai further aligned his views with the position earlier expressed by the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, who in early 2026 urged northern leaders to take ownership of the region’s challenges rather than placing the entire burden on the federal government.

According to Bobai, insecurity in the region is driven by complex socio-economic factors including poverty, unemployment, and years of policy neglect, which require both security responses and long-term development strategies.

He concluded that national security must not be turned into a political battlefield, urging Nigerians to reject propaganda campaigns and instead support efforts aimed at restoring peace, rebuilding communities, and strengthening the country’s security institutions.
